11.4.16 Friday Favorites - Vacation Edition

Last week was our two year wedding anniversary!  I can't believe how fast time goes by!  (Check out the details from our wedding here).

For our honeymoon and one year anniversary, we went to the Food and Wine Festival at Disney World.  It is one of my absolute favorite things!  If you've never been during the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, please do yourself a favor and check it out!

This year, we wanted to stay closer to home and just take a short trip.  So, we decided to go to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for a couple of nights at the Margaritaville Hotel at the Island.   It was wonderful!  There is so much to do that is within walking distance of the hotel and the hotel itself is brand new and amazing!

It was hard picking only six of my favorite things from the trip, but here's a list of six things and places that caught my eye and made me swoon throughout our vacation!

1. The Apple Barn

I remember going to the Apple Barn and walking around with my family when I was a kid.  So, every time we visit the Pigeon Forge area now, I still have to go look in all of the shops and watch the apple fritters being made.  It was also decorated for Halloween and Fall, which made it even more festive!

2.  The Margaritaville Hotel

The hotel was wonderful! Everyone was very friendly and it was super clean.  One of my favorite things about the hotel, was the location.  There is so much to do at the Island, within walking distance.  The Island is made up of tons of restaurants, entertainment and shopping.  You could literally park your car and not have to drive again until you leave.  There's plenty to do in that one area.  It was awesome!

Each hotel room has a walk in tile shower with a rain shower head from the ceiling!  Seriously, like a spa!  The shampoo, conditioner, etc. in the rooms are all Bath and Body Works products.  I know!! How cool is that?!

Each room also has a gas fire place.

The bar area in the hotel was great!  They have Happy Hour every afternoon and the bar staff was awesome!

How gorgeous is the lobby?

A rooftop pool overlooking the Island.

3.  Pina Colada from the Margaritaville Hotel

I'm a total sucker for a good pina colada.  I would almost consider myself a connoisseur of yummy pina coladas. ;)  My all time favorite one is from The Conch House in St. Augustine, but these were wonderful too!  The bar at the hotel was great!  They also had an outdoor area where you could sit by a fire pit or play corn hole.

4.  Breakfast at Paula Deen's Family Kitchen

I've been a fan of Paula Deen for years and years.  I was super excited to finally be able to eat at one of her restaurants!  I also love breakfast foods! So, we decided to go to the restaurant for breakfast our first morning in Pigeon Forge.  Paula Deen's Family Kitchen is only a short walk across the Island.  (Which makes you feel a little better about pigging out when you get there!  Hey, you totally exercised on the way there!)  The restaurant is decorated beautifully and is on the second story of the building, with views that overlook the Island.  The first story of the building has an adorable store.  We visited the store the night before we ate there.

Make sure you bring your appetite with you when you go!  All of the food is family style and all you can eat.  We got chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, eggs, hashbrown casserole, sausage, and fruit (we felt like we needed something a smidge healthy in there!)  Everyone also gets the most yummy raisin cinnamon roll before you even place your order!

After we ate breakfast, we were so full, we went back to the room, relaxed, and watched TV for a while. I also made a cup of coffee in the Keurig in our room.

5.  Stages West

Being a Southern girl, we love our cowboy boots!  I even wore a pair at our wedding reception.  This store had the most awesome selection of boots ever!  Literally any type of boots you could think of, they had.  They also had a really cute selection of winter clothes!  Check Stages West out when you're in the area.  It's on the corner of the main road, when you are turning into the Island area.

6. Old Mill Farmhouse Kitchen

There are a ton of cute shops at the Old Mill area in Pigeon Forge.  I've heard great things about the restaurant there too.  The Old Mill Farmhouse Kitchen was such a precious store!  They had all different types of soup mixes, sandwiches, cornmeal, and kitchen utensils.  You could try samples of some of their more famous items. The yellow jalapeƱo cornbread was awesome!  I also loved all of the Farmhouse decor throughout the store.  How cute is this huge galvanized tier display?

2.  Cobblestone Homes

I love a good neutral toned living room!  When I saw this on Cobblestone Homes' Instagram this week, I fell in love with the neutral colors and the rustic beams on the ceiling!  And the chandelier!  So cozy!  Awesome job Cobblestone Homes!

Like I said about my obsession with state things, I'm the same way with hometown stuff!  Check out this Greenville pillow by the talented Coastal Kelder!  It is absolutely adorable and full of good ol' Greenville pride!

4.  Plaid Skirt on Hiliary Rose's Instagram

I'm a sucker for a good plaid anything during fall and winter.  How gorgeous is this long flowy skirt?! Hilary Rose always has the best style and I think she could literally pull any trend off!

5. Trust Your Journey

I saw these bracelets on Mast General's Instagram this week and was curious to find out more information.  Trust Your Journey was created by a cancer survivor and a young widowed mother.  Together they created "Trust Your Journey" to inspire others who are going through a difficult time.  I love this message!  These pink bracelets would be great gifts for someone you know in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month!

6. Lianahee Drawing

I'm obsessed with Lianahee's adorable drawings!  Every time she posts one, I think "Oh! This one is my favorite!"  How stinkin cute is this one in a plaid cape though!?  LOVE!!

10.14.16 Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Yall!  I can't believe that I've been so swamped!  I hate that I missed last weeks post, but I had to catch up on wedding photos and other photo sessions.  Hey, being busy is a good thing!

Here's a list of the things that have caught my eye and made me swoon throughout this week!

1.  Mountain Home in House Beautiful

I love a nice outdoor area!  Especially this time of year.  There's nothing better than wearing cozy warm clothes and sitting outside to enjoy the nice crisp fall air!  Ok, now I'm starting to sound a little cheesey...  But, seriously, how gorgeous is this mountain home outdoor area?

2.  Engagement Ring on Strictly Weddings by Trabert Goldsmiths

I came across this ring on Facebook this week and I was mesmerized.  This color is amazing!  It's so unique for an engagement ring, but how could you turn this down?!

3.  Booties by Hokus Pokus at Belk

Let me just start by saying, I've been really really good lately!  I've been on a "buy only on an as needed basis" and I've done wonderfully!  Until this week... Yep... I went in Belk this week with my mom and I came across these beauties.  The gray was what originally caught my eye, and before I knew it, the gray (taupe) and the tan were mine.  They were on sale for $34.50 and I had a gift card! So, it's not like I technically spent the money, right?

4.  Pineapple Jack-o-Lantern

We all know about my obsession with pineapples...   So, when I saw this on Coastal Living this week, I was so excited!  It's a pineapple turned into a jack-o-lantern!  Why have I never thought of this before?  Here's a link on how to make one!

5.  Laura Dro Art

Speaking of my love of pineapples, I've been following Laura Dro for a while on Instagram and she paints the most gorgeous and colorful pineapples!  This painting caught my eye this week though.  I absolutely love the colors!  I want to be sitting on one of these lounge chairs with the pink pillow behind me and a pretty striped umbrella above!

6.  Pottery Barn Lanterns

Lately, I've been a big fan of lanterns.  They're so pretty outdoors, indoors, where ever!  I loved these at Pottery Barn.

09.30.16 Friday Favorites

I can't believe this is already the last Friday Favorites for the month of September!  This entire month has absolutely flown by.  Here is a list of six things that caught my eye and made me swoon this past week!

1. Ivy and Violetts Tablescapes

I've been following this beautiful company on Facebook for a while now and everyday they post the most gorgeous things!  I fell in love with this tablescape of white pumpkins and farmhouse decor.  Love!

2.  "A Great Bible Quote a Day Journal"

My mom and I were looking through TJ Maxx this week and we came across this journal, while I was looking for a 2017 planner.  Each page in this book has a Bible verse with an entire page devoted to writing notes on.  I love this idea!  My mom and I bought each bought one to journal and take in the Bible together.

3. Angelica South Carolina Bracelets at Skatell's

Us South Carolina girls love our South Carolina stuff!  So, of course I thought these were just darling when Skatell's Jewelers in Greenville posted them on their Instagram page this week.

4.  Knack and Jill Pumpkin Towel

This week I came across this hand painted tea towel on Knack and Jill's Instagram.  How cute would this look in your kitchen during the fall?  Adorable!

5. HelloAllisonArt Painting

I've been following HelloAllisonArt for a while now on Instagram and I couldn't stop looking at this mini painting when she posted it!  I love the colors and texture!  It's also pink which is pretty awesome that Breast Cancer Awareness month is coming up.   Great work, Allison!

6.  Carolina Tassel Necklace

I know that I might be a smidge biased on this next favorite thing, but I really do love this Carolina Gamecock color tassel necklace that I created this week!  I'm liking the shape and color of these garnet beads!  Check it out on my etsy shop

Where I create

Most of my jewelry photos are taken right here in my home office, on a drawing table that my parents bought for me when I started in the Fine Arts Department at Greenville Tech in 2004.  This table and I have been through a lot together!  The x acto knife cuts, pencil marks, and charcoal stains, all tell a story.  I usually Photoshop out most of the markings on this white table when I'm adding them to Etsy, but sometimes I can't help thinking back to where all of those imperfections came from.

The projects that happened here.  The hard work.  The sleepless nights. The frustrations.  The heartache.  The cuts.  The excitement of winning awards and juried shows. The support from my family and friends.  Feeling proud of myself.

Each one of those imperfections and accomplishments helped shape who I am.  Starting school and not knowing what I wanted to do for the rest of my life was hard!  I think we all go through the "Oh crap! What the heck am I doing?" phase.  I changed my major numerous times and finally chose a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Business.  Then, I missed going to school so much, I decided to get a Master of Science in Management.

We all have imperfections just like this table, and sometimes we can try to "Photoshop" them out, but those things make us who we are!  So, hang in there my friends!  Keep creating.  Keep being and doing the best that you can.
